There is a new, and important demographic challenge just around the corner and our research suggests that many organisations are unaware of its significance. This report aims to establish how well prepared organisations are, and what they need to do to transform the situation from a serious strategic threat to an opportunity.

The developed economies are facing a skills shortage that cannot be met by new people coming into the labour market. In the UK over the next 10 years there will be 13.5m job vacancies, but only 7m school and college leavers, and immigration will not fill this gap. We face a chronic shortfall in educated talent, which will become an increasing pinch point for organisations unless focused action is taken.
